SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A federal district court in San Francisco is set to hear arguments in a lawsuit alleging the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ignored the impacts of hundreds of pesticides known to be harmful to more than 200 endangered and threatened species.

Magistrate Judge Joseph Spero is scheduled to hear arguments in the lawsuit at 9:30 a.m. Friday. The hearing is expected to focus on motions filed by the EPA and pesticide industry groups to dismiss the 2011 lawsuit.

The plaintiffs, the Center for Biological Diversity and Pesticide Action Network North America, say they want the EPA to insure harmful chemicals aren't sprayed in the habitats' of species including Florida panthers and California condors.

The EPA said it could not immediately comment on the case.
