Mosquitoes test positive for West Nile virus

SALEM -- The Oregon Department of Agriculture is advising horse owners to make sure their horse vaccinations are current after mosquitoes found near Medford tested positive for West Nile virus.

The positive tests are the second this year.

Mosquitoes also tested positive for West Nile virus in Malheur County in July.

The department knows of no cases of horses infected with the virus, state veterinarian Brad LeaMaster said.

LeaMaster said the department will post updates on West Nile on its website.
