CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT

Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during January ended the reporting week on Thursday, Jan. 17, as $8.50-8.7125, mostly $8.6325, $20.50 to 26.25 cents per bushel higher compared to Jan. 10 bids for January delivery of $8.2950-8.45, mostly $8.36. There were no white club wheat premiums for nearby delivery for this week or last week.

One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for January delivery were $6.20-6.30, mostly $6.23. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the reporting week on Jan. 11 at mostly $8.3675, then rose to mostly $8.5225 on Jan. 14, continuing higher to mostly $8.6275 and mostly $8.65 on Jan. 16 in reaction to the higher Chicago March wheat futures. Jan. 17, the ended the reporting week bids moved slightly lower to mostly $8.6325.

New confirmed export sales of white wheat this week were limited to Japan. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February and March $8.6625-8.75, April $8.7475-8.80 and May $8.7475-8.85. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February $6.25-6.35, March $6.30-6.35, April $6.34-6.35, May $6.35-6.36 and August New Crop $6.30.

Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Jan. 10, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, totaled 1234.9 thousand MT compared to 1219.5 thousand MT on Jan. 3, and 1253.1 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 277.8, South Korea 169.0, Egypt 165.0, Philippines 155.0, Thailand 62.5, China (Main) 55.5, Yemen 50.0, Nigeria 30.4, Taiwan 18.2, Vietnam 2.6, Canada 2.0, Malaysia 2.0, Mexico 1.8, Burma 1.5, Hong Kong 1.4 and total unknown 240.2.

Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Jan. 10, 2013, in 1000 MT for the 2012-13 marketing year, totaled 2653.1 compared to 3072.7 one year ago.

Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Jan. 10, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, in 1000 MT, totaled 2.6 compared to 1.1 on Jan. 3, and 0.2 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Taiwan 1.3, Japan 0.8 and South Korea 0.5. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Jan. 10, were 120.2 thousand MT compared to 82.6 one year ago.

COARSE FEEDING GRAINS

Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were $302.25-303.50, $9.25 per ton higher than Jan. 11 bids of $293-294.25. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were $297-306.50, $8.75 to $9.25 per ton higher than bids of $287.75-297.75 Jan. 10. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for January delivery trended $5 per ton higher than noon bids at $270 Jan. 10.
