CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT

Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during February ended the reporting week on Thursday, Feb. 21, at $8.48-8.6125 mostly $8.5350, 2 to 13.75 cents per bushel lower compared to Feb. 14 noon bids of $8.50-8.75 mostly $8.6350. There were no white club wheat premiums for nearby delivery for this week or last week. One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for February delivery were $6.85-7.10, mostly $7. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began reporting week on Feb. 15 at mostly $8.7075 then moved lower to mostly $8.6425 on Feb. 19. On Feb. 20, bids moved higher to mostly $8.6825. Feb. 21, the end of the reporting week, bids moved to the weekly low of mostly $8.5350. There were no new confirmed export sales of white wheat this week. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: March $8.5625-8.6125, April $8.54-8.75, May $8.49-8.75 and August New Crop $7.6650-7.7650. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: March $6.85-7.10, April $6.95-7.10, May $6.90-7.10, June $6.50-6.95 and August New Crop $6.55-6.70.

Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Feb. 14, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, totaled 940.6 thousand MT compared to 972.3 thousand MT on Feb. 7, and 1708.0 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 281.5, Philippines 160.0, South Korea 157.6, Thailand 50.0, Taiwan 23.1, Nigeria 19.2, Burma 3.0, Malaysia 2.5, Canada 1.5, Mexico 0.9, Hong Kong 0.8, China 0.5, Vietnam 0.5 and total unknown 239.5. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Feb. 14, in 1000 MT for the 2012-13 marketing year, totaled 3312.7 compared to 3663.4 one year ago.

Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Feb. 14, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, in 1000 MT, totaled 1.6 compared to 1.9 on Feb. 7, and 0.2 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 0.8, Taiwan 0.5 and South Korea 0.3. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Feb. 14, were 121.5 thousand MT compared to 82.6 one year ago.

COARSE FEEDING GRAINS

Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were $288.75-291.25, mixed, from $1.50 per ton lower to 75 cents per ton higher than Feb. 14 bids of $290.25-290.50. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were $286-295, $1.50 to $2 per ton lower than Feb. 14 bids of $287.50-297. Lower Chicago March corn futures pressured corn cash bids. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for February delivery held steady with Feb. 14 noon bids at $270.
