CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT

Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during March ended the reporting week on Thursday, March 7, at $8.50-8.6050, mostly $8.5775, four to ten cents per bushel lower compared to Feb. 28 noon bids of $8.62-8.6450, mostly $8.6375 for the same delivery period. There were no white club wheat premiums for nearby delivery for this week or last week. One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for March delivery were $7.10-7.23, mostly $7.15. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began reporting week on March 1 at mostly $8.7025 then fell lower to mostly $8.5175 on March 4 before rising to mostly $8.60 on March 5 and dropped again on March 6 to mostly $8.4575. March 7, the end of the reporting week bids slightly higher to mostly $8.5775. New confirmed export sales of white wheat this week were limited to Japan. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: April and May $8.42-8.6050 and August New Crop $7.4650-7.6150. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: April $7.10-7.23, May $7.08-7.23, June $6.95-7.10, July $6.70-7 and August New Crop $6.65-6.70.

Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Feb. 28, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, totaled 726.3 thousand MT compared to 803.9 thousand MT on Feb. 21, 2012, and 1621.1 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 149.5, South Korea 137.7, Philippines 120.0, Egypt 55.0, Thailand 50.0, Nigeria 19.2, Taiwan 13.8, Burma 3.0, Malaysia 1.5, Canada 1.3, Vietnam 0.5, Hong Kong 0.3 and total unknown 174.5. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Feb. 28, in 1000 MT for the 2012-13 marketing year, totaled 3577.1 compared to 3914.5 one year ago.

Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Feb. 28, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, in 1000 MT, totaled 2.2 compared to 2.4 on Feb. 21, and 2.1 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Taiwan 1.1, Japan 0.8 and South Korea 0.3. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Feb. 28, were 121.8 thousand MT compared to 82.8 one year ago.

COARSE FEEDING GRAINS

Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were $294-296.25, $6.50 to $7.75 per ton lower than last Feb. 28 of $300.50-304. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Oregon were $293.25-301.50, $3 to $4.50 per ton lower than Feb. 28 bids of $296.25-306. Lower Chicago March corn futures weighed on cash corn bids. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for March delivery held steady with Feb. 28 noon bids at $270.
