Compared to last week: Domestic Alfalfa traded mostly steady in all regions this week. Retail/Stable hay traded steady with sole test in Region 6. Export hay traded mostly steady. Demand good for all classes with moderate to active trade activity. Regions 1 and 2 trading is limited with parts of Sacramento Valley nearing first cutting. Regions 3 and 5 movement has picked up slightly with more rain damage type entering the marketplace. Several producers in the have decided to green chop due to recent moisture. Cutting is delayed by a few weeks for many producers for this time of year. Region 6 producers continue to trade at much of the same values, dairy hay movement has increased slightly when compared with recent weeks. Several inquiries noted across the area on new contract prices for Sudan and Bermuda. Time will tell where prices fall.
