National Sheep/Wool Reports Compiled by USDA Market News Service, Greeley, Colo.-San Angelo, Texas

Wool prices in cents per pound and foreign currency per kilogram, sheep prices in dollars per hundredweight (cwt.) except some replacement animals on per head basis as indicated.

NATIONAL WOOL REVIEW

Feb. 22

Domestic wool trading on a clean basis was moderate with 75,000 lbs. of confirmed sales this week. Demand light to moderate. Domestic wool trading on a greasy basis was slow this week. There was no confirmed sales.

Domestic Wool Tags - delivered to buyer, greasy basis:

#2 $.25-.35

#3 $.10-.20

The FSA effective LDP rate for wool is unchanged at $0 per pound. The FSA effective LDP rate for mohair is unchanged at $0 per pound.

Feb. 22

Compared to last week slaughter lambs were steady to $5 higher, instances $10-20 higher. Slaughter ewes were steady to $10 higher. Feeder lambs were steady. At San Angelo, Texas, 4,869 head sold in a one-day sale.

No sales in Equity Electronic Auction. In direct trading slaughter ewes and feeder lambs were not tested. 4,400 head of negotiated sales of slaughter lambs were weak to $2 lower and 11,600 head of formula sales of dressed lambs under 65 lbs. were not well tested; over 65 lbs. were $1-3 higher. 5,632 lamb carcasses sold with 45 lbs. and down $10.45 higher; 45-55 lbs. $1.75 lower and 55 lbs. and up $.07-1.51 higher.

SLAUGHTER LAMBS Choice and Prime 2-3:

San Angelo: shorn and wooled 100-165 lbs. $102-111, few $116-120.

SLAUGHTER LAMBS Choice and Prime 1:

San Angelo: 40-60 lbs. $174-194, few 196-200; 60-70 lbs. $157-172, few 186; 70-80 lbs. $150-166; 80-90 lbs. $139-150; 90-100 lbs. $128-142.

DIRECT TRADING (Lambs with 3-4 percent shrink or equivalent)

4,400 Slaughter Lambs shorn and wooled 119-183 lbs. $107.24-123 (wtd avg $118.17); no dressed sales reported.

SLAUGHTER EWES:

San Angelo: Good 2-3 (fleshy) $50-54; Utility and Good 1-3 (medium flesh) $59-69, high-yielding 72-76; Utility 1-2 (thin) $49-58; Cull and Utility 1-2 (very thin) $40-44.

FEEDER LAMBS Medium and Large 1-2:

San Angelo: new crop 50-60 lbs. $160-162; 60-70 lbs. $150-162; 70-80 lbs. $140-150; 80-90 lbs. $136-142; 90-100 lbs. $131-140.

REPLACEMENT EWES Medium and Large 1-2:

San Angelo: no test.
