National Sheep/Wool Reports Compiled by USDA Market News Service, Greeley, Colo.-San Angelo, Texas

Wool prices in cents per pound and foreign currency per kilogram, sheep prices in dollars per hundredweight (cwt.) except some replacement animals on per head basis as indicated.

NATIONAL WOOL REVIEW

April 20

Domestic wool trading on a clean basis was moderate. There were 438,400 lbs. of confirmed sales this week. Demand moderate to good. Early Texas wools are coming in 2-3 percent heavier than last year and a little shorter.

Domestic wool trading on a greasy basis was moderate. There was 51,200 lbs. of confirmed sales this week. All prices reported on a weighted average. Territory States: Yearling wools: 20 micron BO Pack 68-72 mm $2.63; 22 micron BO Pack 70 mm $2.06. Texas: bellies $1.30.

DOMESTIC WOOL TAGS - delivered to buyer, greasy basis:

#2 $.50-.60

#3 $.40-.50

The FSA effective LDP rate for wool is unchanged at $0 per pound. The FSA effective LDP rate for mohair is unchanged at $0 per pound.

Compared to last week heavy slaughter lambs were steady to $10 lower; light slaughter lambs were sharply lower. Slaughter ewes were steady to $10 lower, instances $20 lower. Feeder lambs were steady. At San Angelo, Texas, 3,778 head sold in a one-day sale. No sales in Equity Electronic Auction. In direct trading slaughter ewes steady; feeder lambs not tested. 2,800 head of negotiated sales of slaughter lambs were steady and 10,100 head of formula sales were $6-7 lower. 6,400 lamb carcasses sold with 45 lbs. and down $71.22 lower; 45-55 lbs. $6.40 lower; 55-65 lbs. $.96 higher; 65 lbs. and up $2.06-2.54 lower.

SLAUGHTER LAMBS Choice and Prime 2-3 90-160 lbs.:

San Angelo: shorn and wooled 100-165 lbs. $128-147, few $156.

SLAUGHTER LAMBS Choice and Prime 1:

San Angelo: 40-60 lbs. $206-228; 60-70 lbs. $200-228; 70-80 lbs. $192-204, few $210; 80-90 lbs. $190-198; 90-105 lbs. $160-175.

DIRECT TRADING (Lambs with 3-4 percent shrink or equivalent)

2,800 Slaughter Lambs shorn and wooled 100-160 lbs. $140-161 (wtd avg 149.60); no dressed sales reported.

Idaho: 300 Slaughter Ewes Utility and Good 1-3 56.

SLAUGHTER EWES:

San Angelo: Good 2-3 (fleshy) $78-80; Utility and Good 1-3 (medium flesh) $88-98, high-yielding $102-110, low-yielding $70-84; Utility 1-2 (thin) $65-79; Cull and Utility 1-2 (very thin) $60-68; Cull 1 (extremely thin) $50-56.

FEEDER LAMBS Medium and Large 1-2:

San Angelo: 60-70 lbs. $196-198; 74 lbs. $188; 80-85 lbs. $181-186; 90-100 lbs. $176-180.

REPLACEMENT EWES Medium and Large 1-2:

San Angelo: mixed age hair ewes 100-125 lbs. $114-134 cwt.
