CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT

Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during January ended the reporting week on Thursday, Jan. 24, as $8.50-8.6850, mostly $8.59, steady to $2.75 cents per bushel lower compared to the Jan. 18 bids for delivery of $8.50-8.7125, mostly $8.6325. There were no white club wheat premiums for nearby delivery for this week or last week. One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for January delivery were $6.50-6.55, mostly $6.55. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the holiday shortened reporting week on Jan. 19 at the weekly high of mostly $8.6950 before dropping to mostly $8.6275 on Jan. 23 and continuing to mostly $8.5975 on Jan. 24. Jan. 25, the end of the reporting week bids moved slightly lower to mostly $8.59. New confirmed export sales of white wheat this week were limited to Japan. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February $8.65-8.70, March $8.6850-8.80, April $8.72-8.82, May $8.72-8.84 and August New Crop $7.9250-8.1750. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February $6.30-6.60, March $6.50-6.60, April and May $6.52-6.60 and August New Crop $6.50-6.55.

Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Jan. 17, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, totaled 1077.2 thousand MT compared to 1234.9 thousand MT on Jan. 10, and 1442.8 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 209.2, Philippines 184.5, South Korea 169.0, Egypt 165.0, Thailand 62.5, Nigeria 30.4, Taiwan 18.2, Malaysia 2.0, Mexico 1.8, Canada 1.7, Burma 1.5, Hong Kong 1.1, China 0.5, Vietnam 0.5, and total unknown 229.3. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Jan. 17, in 1000 MT for the 2012-13 marketing year, totaled 2885.0 compared to 3217.7 one year ago.

Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Jan. 17, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, in 1000 MT, totaled 2.4 compared to 2.6 on Jan. 10 and 0.2 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Taiwan 1.1, Japan 0.8 and South Korea 0.5. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Jan. 17, 2013 were 120.5 thousand MT compared to 82.6 one year ago.

COARSE FEEDING GRAINS

Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were $302.50-303.25, narrowly mixed, from 25 cents lower to 25 cents per ton higher than Jan. 18 bids of $302.25-303.50. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were $296.75-307.25, mixed, from 25 cents lower to 75 cents per ton higher than Jan. 18 bids of $297-306.50. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for January delivery held steady with last Thursday's noon bids at $270.
