North Lake FFA students visit with Senator Whitsett

Several FFA students took time out of school to visit with  Senator Doug Whitsett at the recent Fort Rock/Silver Lake Soil & Water Conservation District meeting.  The students were able to ask questions and have a frank discussion about several of the issues that directly affect them, such as Klamath dam removal, wind and solar power,  Child Labor Laws and educational funding for the Student Leadership Center which serves FFA and FBLA members throughout the state.

All of the students who attended the meeting, were part of the State Championship Soils team, and have been studying agricultural issues in preparation for the FFA Speech and Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Events.

Junior Conley Kittredge has anchored the FFA Soils team three state championship titles.  After high school, he plans on using his agricultural education to go into production agriculture.  Raven Waldron, another Junior with three state championship titles, plans on attending Oregon State University and majoring in Soil Science.

The FFA would like to thank the Fort Rock/Silver Lake SWCD for their continuous support and the educational programs they provide the school and the community.
