Fellowship awarded

Sarita Schaffer, a coordinator of the immigrant-owned farms team at Washington State University, has received a fellowship with the nationwide Business Alliance for Local Living Economies. Schaffer is co-owner of Viva Farms near Mount Vernon, Wash., where she teaches the farming business. According to the alliance, fellows participate in "an intense 18-month leadership immersion program that strengthens their capacity for transformative change in their communities."
