$14 million expansion of Pasco hay export plant

PASCO, Wash. (AP) -- A Japanese company is investing $14 million in the expansion of a hay storage and hay cubing operation at the Port of Pasco's industrial park.

The company, Zen-Noh Hay, ships compressed hay cubes to dairy and beef cattle farmers in Japan and other parts of Asia.

Port Director Jim Toomey told Tri-City Herald (http://is.gd/jfqSZG ) alfalfa hay is a major export crop. About a third of the hay grown in Washington is exported, mostly to Asia.
