The Chelan will celebrate National FFA Week February 16^th to 23^rd, 2013.  GROW  is the theme this year and it embodies what FFA members do in the organization.  Not only do they grow crops and animals in their Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) projects but they grow their character, attitude, leadership skills, and career skills in FFA.   More than half a million members around the nation will participate in National FFA Week activities at the local and state levels.

The focus of National FFA Week is to tell America about the great opportunities available for all youth. From its beginnings in 1928 as the Future Farmers of America, the National FFA Organization today reaches out to all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.  FFA is committed to developing character and leadership skills and preparing members for a lifetime of civic leadership and career success.

As a part of National FFA Week, The 136 members of the Chelan FFA are planning the following special events:

• Wednesday February 20, Agriculture Mechanics CDE @ Manson 9:00 AM
• Wednesday February 20, Greenhand Chapter FFA Degree Ceremony@ 6:00 PM CHS PAC
• Wednesday February 20, FFA Alumni Benefit Auction @ 7:00 PM CHS Commons
• Friday, February 22,  FFA Member Lunch @ 11:45 in the Agriplex
• Public Service Announcements on Regional Media all week

Chelan FFA members are the leaders of tomorrow.  They are well-mannered, perceptive and willing to help others through community service such as Project PALS, Lionâs Club Activities, Chelan Rotary Activities, Chelan Senior Center, Rodeo Lake Chelan and Chelan Jr. Rodeo. They are success-oriented students who are driven to achieve their goals. FFA gives many young people an important push to consider their futures- what kind of people, citizens and professionals they intend to be.

National FFA Week is sponsored by Tractor Supply Company and Carhartt as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.  The Foundation is the fundraising arm of the National FFA and supports programs by working with sponsors to raise funds for scholarships that are awarded to outstanding members.
