âI believe in the future of agricultureâ¦â the first line of the FFA Creed has stood the test of time.  These words written in 1931 by EM Tiffany and recited by just about every FFA Greenhand since that time forward and Tuesday March 26th the top Greenhand or first year members in the South half of District VII got together to see just who recite those five paragraphs of the FFA Creed the best.   The Manson Grange graciously played host to Creed Speaking CDE as they have for the past 40 plus years.   Competitors, Advisors, Parents, and Judges enjoyed a potluck dinner before the event. Sixteen nervous and talented freshmen agriculture education students took the first step in becoming one of the excellent public speakers and young leaders that are built in the FFA.

Chelan was represented by six young folks, Anna Doty, Josie Gallup, Sarah Goyne, Dane Schwartz, Erick Straub, and Thomas Armstrong.  Each performed exceptionally well and three came away with opportunities to compete in the District Leadership CDE in Chelan on April 10th.  Erick Straub earned a 3rd Place banner,  Thomas Armstrong earned the 4th Place banner, and Dane Schwartz was 5th and the alternate to district.

District VII gets to send the top three contestants in each qualifying CDE to the State FFA Leadership CDEs at the 84th Washington State FFA Convention in Pullman May 9-11.
