North Lake FFA Chapter Reporter

On Wednesday, April 3^rd The North Lake FFA held their 21^st Annual appreciation banquet. The banquet is a time where FFA members and families get together and look back at their accomplishments. At this yearâs banquet we gave awards, heard from speakers, installed our 2013-2014 chapter officers, watched a slideshow, and enjoyed a delicious dinner courtesy of Denise Oster and the kitchen staff. We recognized and awarded members with achievements in contest, leadership development events, and presented new members their Greenhand degrees.

The following members received awards:

The Star Greenhand award went to Brittnee Keezer.  Star Chapter farmer went to Conley Kittredge.  Beef Production- Mariam Horton, Sheep Production- Alberto Valencia, Swine production- Shannon Jennifer Fisher, Forage Production- Andrew Miles, Blue & Gold- Eric Nelson, Excellence in FFA Creed- Laurena Schmidt, Bum Ash Memorial- Daniel Libolt, Outstanding Freshman- Wyatt Waldron, Outstanding Sophomore- Barry Oâ Leary, Outstanding Junior- Noelle Fine, Outstanding Senior- Wyatt Smith.

Our honorary members were Gerry Baker and Don and Freda Boyles.

Being an Honorary Member of the FFA is a privledge. Farmers, school superintendents, principals, members of board of education, chapter advisors, teachers, staff members in agriculture education, business people and others who have rendered outstanding service, may be elected to honorary membership by a majority vote. We are proud to have Gerry, Don, and Freda as our honorary members.

Gerry Baker has always been a strong supporter of the FFA ever since he arrived at North Lake. Heâs had a strong background in agriculture and has been very supportive of the FFA Chapter malting barley seed trial, as well as helping with other contests. Gerry is always there to deliver some of his famous life quotes or to tell us a story of things heâs done. Conley Kittredge our retired chapter president would always say that Gerry has experienced everything but death.

Don and Freda are prominent members of the community, as well as generous supporters of the FFA program. Even when they have no relatives in the FFA program Don and Freda are always willing to show their support of our chapter by donating hay or coming to an event. We are proud to have these members of the community as our honorary members of the North lake FFA Chapter.

Before the banquet adjourned we had the installment of the new North Lake FFA Chapter officers. The 2013-2014 officers are:
