The Willows FFA Chapter has been preparing all month for an extreme adventure. There are multiple trails that we have sent our eager members down. These paths consist of State Degree awards, Proficiency awards, State Band, and State Talent. Letâs see who went down these unforgettable trails.

In the area of State Degree awards we have a record number of adventurists. These members have defeated the intense qualifications, passed through the challenging applications, and now all they must do is walk into the glorious sunlight and receive their golden State Degree pins. These adventurists are Eduardo Briones, Amanda Alves, Joseph Perry, John Renfro, Geoffrey Bateman, Greg Dicharry, Jake Martin, Meghan Mendes, Tayler Smith, and Joseph Martin. They walked across the stage at Chico State on March 21st, 2013 during the Superior Region Awards ceremony.

We have three courageous members that took the risk of going down the Proficiency trail. These members defeated the trail though their remarkable projects at home. Joseph Perry was the regional winner in the area of Ag. Mechanics Design and Fabrication Entrepreneurship. Jake Martin will be receiving his Proficiency Award in the area of Beef Production Entrepreneurship. Along with Jake, Natalie Massa is receiving her Proficiency Award as well in the area of Grain Production Entrepreneurship. These three contestants will be walking into the sunlight to be recognized, along with the State Degree applicants, at the Superior Region award ceremony. Natalie and Jake have been selected as state finalists and will complete an interview at the State FFA Convention.

Our FFA Chapter was also elected Superior Chapter in our region for having such an amazing outcome in all of the many things we have accomplished as a team. We are truly impressed by the amount of dedication that our members have presented which enabled us to be recognized for having such amazing devotion to our chapter.

Down the path of State Band, Joseph Martin was selected to play with our State FFA Band at the State Conference April 20-23. We are extremely excited to be able to witness one of our own members playing music in our State Band!

We also have a member venturing out to play his music at the State Conference to participate in the State Talent. Marvin Price has prepared for this contest for multiple months and feels he is ready to show our state his incredible talent once more. Marvin will be playing a selection from Van Halen during the opening session of Convention!
