Comment: Feeder cattle continue to sell extremely well with historical high prices. There is excellent demand for the properly weaned and vaccinated cattle with the double vaccinated calves (2 rounds of 5-way respiratory vaccine administered at least 30 days prior). Its the respiratory vaccine that’s important and these calves will top the market with some instances selling for 50-75 cents a pound over less desirable cattle. The Cow and Bull Market was up $4-5 dollars this week.

Comments: Monday’s all class cattle sale featured a strong run of cows and bulls, and a decent offering of calves from 500-800 pounds. Slaughter cows were steady to $1-$2 higher on the average, with a top price of $1.13, and an average price of $1.00-1.03 per pound. Slaughter bulls were steady, with a top price of $1.38, and an average of $1.24-$1.33 per pound. Feeder calves were higher on the better conditioned calves, and steady on off color/breed calves. 400-500 weight steers topped out at $265.00, while 500-600 weight steers brought up to $270.00, with an average of $228.00. 600-700 weight steers brought up to $262.00, and averaged $184.97. 400-500 weight heifers topped out at $260.00, with an average of $225.07. 500-600 weight heifers brought up to $230.00.
