Great Oregon Steam-Up: 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Powerland Heritage Park, 3995 Brooklake Road NE, Brooks, Ore. History comes alive every year at the Great Oregon Steam-Up. Antique equipment, steam engines, cars, trucks and a steam-powered sawmill will be operating, and 14 museums will be open. In addition, there will be a swap meet, flea market and food vendors. OSU Dry Farm Program Field Day: 4-7 p.m. Lewis Brown Farm, Corvallis, Ore. UI Parma Research and Extension Center Field Day: 7:15-11:30 a.m. University of Idaho Parma Research and Extension Center, 29603 U of I Lane, Parma, Idaho. SE Oregon Resource Advisory Council Meeting (online): 9 a.m.-noon. Committee includes 15 members appointed by U.S. Interior secretary. Interests represented among members include timber, grazing, energy and mineral development, recreation, wild horse and burro management, tribes, environmental groups, academia and elected officials. Touring the melon research plot at the NWREC Learning Farm, observing five melon varieties that have been irrigated in four different ways: dry farmed, strong deficit, slight deficit, and grower standard. Washington State Fair: 10:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. 110 9th Ave. SW Puyallup. The Washington State Fair is the largest fair in the state and in the Pacific Northwest, and one of the biggest in the world. The 20-day fair starts the Friday of Labor Day (closed Tuesdays), and welcomes more than a million guests who enjoy top-name entertainment, animals and agriculture, feature exhibits, booths, the arts, food and rides.
