Organic leader named to Oregon ag board

Mike Dill, director of advocacy and sustainability for Organically Grown Company, has been appointed to the Oregon State Board of Agriculture.
The appointment was announced April 9.
He will immediately begin serving a four-year term on the government body and will have an option to reapply for a second term.
Dill brings more than 15 years of experience to his new role. According to a news release, his expertise and leadership in advancing organic and regenerative agriculture have been widely recognized, making him a strong addition to the board.
“I am honored to represent the organic fruit and vegetable industry on the Oregon State Board of Agriculture. Fruits and vegetables make up the largest sector of the organic industry and I’m excited to share my knowledge and experience that spans the entire supply chain,” Dill said, in the news release.
Other leadership roles
Dill was recently appointed to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Fruit and Vegetable Advisory Committee.
In a previous interview, he acknowledged his organic background but said he would represent the interests of all Pacific Northwest produce growers on the committee. He added that the lines had blurred between conventional and organic operations, with many producers pursuing both channels.
Dill also holds various leadership roles across the organic industry.
He’s the chairman of the Oregon Organic Coalition, vice chairman of the Oregon Trade Association’s Produce Sector Council, and Organic Produce Wholesalers Coalition coordinator.He also sits on the Coalition for Organic and Regenerative Agriculture governing council and the Organic Farming Research Foundation board.
Dill graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in food science and technology.
