Comments: Monday’s feeder special featured a light run of cull cows, a strong market on feeder cattle, and a good offering of bred cows. Slaughter cows topped out at $1.15 per pound, with an average price of 90-98 cents per pound. Slaughter bulls sold for as much as $1.20 per pound, and averaged $1.09. Feeder cattle were stronger, with good buyer demand on all weights. 500-600 weight steers averaged $2.75 per pound, and topped out at $3.01. Same weight heifers brought $2.44 on average, and had a high of $2.71. 600-700 weight steers brought $2.70 at the top end, and averaged $2.61, while heifers had a high of 259.50 and an average of $244.34. 700-800 weight steers sold for $2.60 at the top end, and averaged $2.41 per pound. Same weight heifers brought up to $2.44. Young bred cows sold for a high of $2275.00, and averaged right at $2000.00 by the head.
