Market Comments: Really light test on the feeder cattle this week. Most of the offering has moved to unweaned fall calves. As the spring grass dries up and the days get hotter the feeder cattle will become a little less desirable there is a few things you can do. Buyers are still looking for weaned and vaccinated calves with 2 rounds of respiratory protection. This will help you sell your cattle. The Cow market was steady and the bull market set new highs this week. The beef breeds now outsell the dairy breeds.

Comments: Monday’s feeder sale featured a good run of cows and bulls and a strong run of heavier feeders with a strong market on all classes. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady, with the top cow bringing 158.00, with an average price of 140.00-144.00. Slaughter bulls brought up to 173.00, and averaged 155.00-159.00. A few young cow calf pairs with big calves brought 3300.00 per pair. Most of the run of feeders weighed over 700 pounds, with 700-800 weight steers bringing 273.00 at the top and averaging 254.04. 800-900 weight steers sold for 238.50, and averaged 236.79. 600-700 weight heifers brought 258.00, and averaged 237.14.
