The Darlene 3 Fire near La Pine, Ore., is 75% contained and remained at 3,889 acres burned as of Monday. All containment lines set by fire crews Saturday have held.

Firefighters are mopping up and looking for hot spots near the fire perimeter, according to fire officials, and being cautious of hazards including standing, unstable burned trees and stump holes with hot ash.

A local fire incident command team will remain until the fire is completely out.

Central Oregon Fire Management Services, an interagency fire management team, requested a state investigator to probe the origin of the fire, but it is unknown whether the request has been accepted.

Fire officials said last week the fire was human-caused and pinpointed the location of the fire’s origin on Bureau of Land Management land, but they did not yet know the cause.

Some areas near the fire remain under evacuation notice. Residents near La Pine can expect further updates from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.

As Fourth of July approaches, fire officials advise the public to stay up to date on the public fire use restrictions that went into effect Monday. Temperatures are expected to hover around 100 degrees later this week.
