The cow and bull market was steady with last week. The sheep and goat market showed price improvement this week.

Monday’s feeder sale featured a short run of cows and bulls, and a good selection of light calves and feeders. Slaughter cows were steady to $3-$5 lower off the top end, as expected following the 4th of July holiday. Cows averaged $1.28-$1.31 per pound, with a top price of $1.41. Slaughter bulls averaged $1.35-1.48, and topped out at $165.50. Feeder cattle were slightly lower on the light end, and steady on the heavier weight calves and yearlings. 700-800 weight steers brought $239.00 at the top end, and averaged $229.76 overall. Same weight heifers brought $225.00, and averaged $220.99. 800-900 weight steers sold as high as $235.00, and averaged $212.95. Mid aged and younger cow calf pairs sold for $2400-$2700 per pair.
