The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife killed an adult female wolf Wednesday from the Onion Creek pack in response to attacks on cattle in Stevens and Pend Oreille counties in northeast Washington.

Fish and Wildlife removed two other wolves from the pack Sept. 19, but the department confirmed Sept. 30 the pack killed another calf.

Fish and Wildlife Director Kelly Susewind on Wednesday authorized the department to remove a third wolf. The department staff recommended lethal control, concluding attacks would continue.

The department has no plans to remove more wolves from the pack.

Fish and Wildlife killed a yearling female and adult in September. The pack has killed four head of cattle since Aug. 10, according to the department.
