Pile burns planned across Boise National Forest

Boise National Forest officials plan to burn debris remaining from timber sales and wildfire fuel reduction projects this winter as weather conditions allow and as the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality issues approvals.

The intent is to “reduce hazardous fuels and help protect communities from future wildfire,” according to a news release.

Fire managers aim to time the burns for minimal smoke impacts, officials said. Any potential smoke impacts likely will be short, with smoke mainly settling in low-lying areas near the project site during night and early morning hours.

No road or trail closures are expected. For more information: 208-384-3378.
