The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife killed two wolves Thursday in a pack that has been attacking cattle in Stevens and Pend Oreille counties in northeast Washington.

The department removed a yearling female and adult male from the Onion Creek pack. The department had confirmed wolf attacks on calves Aug. 10, Aug. 15 and Sept. 9.

Fish and Wildlife officials concluded attacks would continue unless the pack was culled. The department has no plans to remove more wolves.

The department has killed one other wolf this year to curb attacks on livestock.
