Comment: We continue to see the majority of feeder cattle be unweaned and unvaccinated making them harder to sell. Value added calves continue to outsell the generic calves by 20-50 cents a pound. By value added we mean properly weaned and vaccinated calves with 2 rounds of respiratory protection. We are in desperate need of some rain that will bring a few more feeder buyers to town. We had a good run of bred cows this week broken mouth and younger. For the first time in years the bred cow buyers took them away from the packer buyers with the good broken mouth cows bringing 100 to 150 over butcher. The Cow and Bull market was 2-4 stronger this week.

Comments: Monday’s all class cattle sale featured over 250 head, with a good run of cows and bulls and a light test on calves and yearlings. Slaughter cows were $3-$5 higher from a week prior, with the best of the cows bringing up to $150.00, and an average price of $128.00 to $138.00. Slaughter bulls sold for up to $157.50, and averaged $137.00-$145.00. The calf run was heavier on heifers, though the whole run was fairly up and down in quality. 400-500 weight steers brought $290.00 at the top, and averaged $229.18, with same weight heifers bringing $247.50 at the top and an average of $218.23. 500-600 weight steers sold for $245.00, while same weight heifers sold for $265.00 at the top. Baby calves sold for $400-$625 per head.
