The seventh annual Organicology, an organic food trade sector conference, is scheduled for March 12-14 at Revolution Hall in Portland.

The event is held by Organically Grown Company, one of the nation’s leading distributors of fresh organic produce.

“Organicology is more than a conference — it’s an idea lab designed to revolutionize food, agriculture and economic systems for the better,” said Brenna Davis, CEO of Organically Grown Company, in a news release.

“With the theme ‘Organic is the Answer,’ this one-of-a-kind event brings together contributors, advocates and change-makers from across the organic trade to share insights, present research, celebrate innovation and tackle challenges collectively,” she added.

The event program includes speakers, workshops and networking opportunities.

Keynote speakers include Davis and:

•Leah Penniman, co-director of Soul Fire Farm in Grafton, N.Y., and author of “Farming While Black.”

•Valerie Segrest, a native nutrition educator and co-founder of Tahoma Peak Solutions in Seattle.

•James Cassidy, Oregon State University soil science instructor in Corvallis, Ore., and adviser to the OSU Organic Growers Club.

•Jenny Tucker, deputy administrator of the USDA national organic program.
